For the past year I have really taken up beading and jewelry making. In a month my mom, sister, and I are having a party to raise funds for Susan G. Koeman, and they have asked me to make and sell some of my jewelry. Below are a couple of braclets and a necklace I've made so far for the event.

Learning to Sew
I am a high school Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, and this year I was told I would be teaching fashion... eekkk...
For my undergraduate degree, I took two fashion classes. One class was about the fasion industry and the only thing I remember learning about was how you have to be in New York City to be a fashion designer, and the other class I took was about how people devlop and display personality based on and because of fashion. It was actually really interesting, but not useful for me as a teacher.
For the class I have to teach, I need to teach the students how to sew two things: pajama pants and a bag. Pretty simple patterns, however, I have only sewed about three times before in my life, I do not know how to read a pattern, and I do not know how to thread a sewing machine.
Well I learned how to work the machines and how to read a pattern, so it was time for me to practice making pants and the bag. I solicited my mom (a quilter) for help, and this is what came out:

The pants turned out way too big and way too long... I'll blame the pattern, but the truh is I learned how easy they are to make, I only had to rip two seams, and this will be easy to teach!
The bag was designed using a pattern the lady I work with designed... otherwise I would share it. It was 100% reversable, which was pretty cool, and included a pocket. The base was the hardest part, but I realized this isn't so bad either!

Valentine's Cookies
After not having piped icing for about a year, i decided there was no better time to start again than on a snow day. Inspiration... Valentine's Day (and The Sweet Adventures of Sugar Belle: Link). I always use her recipees and ideas, great inspiration!
Part of the way through icing, I realized I over-whipped the icing and I didn't have enough water and the tip I used for white and pink was too big.
